This training refers to the Regulation 679/2016 of the European Commission on the Protection of Natural Persons against the Processing of Personal Data and on the Free Movement of Data within the European Union as it was entered into force in May 2018.
This new Regulation became known and referred to as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). It was implemented simultaneously by all EU member states, while companies based outside the European Economic Area promoting their products and services to European citizens must comply with the Regulation.
The post GDPR era has been a challenging one, as the GDPR affects all aspects of our daily life but most importantly the way we do business and how we interact with the clients’ personal data.
Objectives:
This course will provide comprehensive training and basic knowledge on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its principles and the role and responsibilities of Data Protection Officer (DPO).
The course is designed to equip them with the skills needed to effectively navigate the complex landscape of data protection and privacy regulations.

Andrea Ioakim, Partner, Corporate and Legal Department
Andrea holds an LLB by the University of Leicester, UK and an LLM in European Law & Policy by the University of Manchester, UK. She is also a qualified lawyer and member of the Cyprus Bar Association. She has been a member of the Cyprus Bar Association since 2009.
Andrea’s main practice areas focuse on Corporate and Commercial Law, Banking and Finance, Data Protection and Privacy, M&A & Corporate Reorganisations, Trusts, Estate Planning and Succession.
Over her 15 years of experience, she has developed a strong expertise in restructuring and M&A projects and has advised local and international clients on corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions.
Her main focus is on corporate, commercial, banking and finance transactions, with experience in international transactions relating to foreign clientele. Andrea has been involved in the drafting of documentation in relation to secured financing transactions and has been advising foreign law firms acting as leading counsels in such transactions on matters relating to the Cyprus legislation. She has also performed complex legal due diligences for international clients and multinational organizations with respect to potential acquisitions. Andrea also provides daily legal support to the clientele of the Firm on matters of their continuous operations and activities. Andrea has an extensive experience in corporate re-organizations and mergers as well as re-domiciliations of companies to and from the Republic of Cyprus. Andrea along with her team advises clients on regulatory compliance.
Andrea has strong experience on GDPR and has advised clients towards GDPR compliance of their businesses as well as provided advice on specific matters that were addressed by the clients.

Yiolanda Rotsides, Principal, Corporate and Legal Department
Yiolanda is a qualified lawyer and member of the Cyprus Bar Association since 2014. She holds an LLB from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus and an LLM on Financial Law and International Taxation from the Cyprus International Institute of Management.
Her main practice areas include Corporate and Commercial Law, Banking and Finance, M&A and Estate Planning.
Yiolanda’s extensive and well-rounded experience in corporate matters includes, inter alia, advising international and local clients on all types of corporate, commercial, banking and finance transactions as well as regulatory compliance and complex legal due diligences.
Yiolanda has acted as lead counsel in international high-value transactions; syndicated loans and subordinated and mezzanine financing by advising foreign law firms and financial institutions on matters of Cyprus law. Further, she is highly experienced on local and cross border mergers and reorganisations and has on various occasions advised on high-profile transactions involving restructurings and reorganisations of international groups.
