Transfer of title of Immovable Property at Lands Department

Immovable Property (Transfer and Mortgage) Law, Law No.9/1965


According to a recent amendment of The Immovable Property (Transfer and Mortgage) Law, Law No.9/1965 as amended, as from the 1st of January 2020 onwards, for the purpose of transferring the title of an immovable property in the name of the purchaser, the seller is obliged to present to the relevant District Land Office, among other supporting documents, a receipt from the Water Board authority or the relevant Community Board evidencing settlement of all water charges.

The seller’s obligation to present relevant receipts evidencing settlement of the municipal/community charges and sewerage charges, remains unchanged.
